MISSION STATEMENT
The Tennessee Technology Center at McKenzie continues to serve as the
premier provider for workforce development throughout Northwest
Tennessee.
The Center fulfills the mission by:
Providing competency-based training through
traditional and distance learning instructional delivery systems of the highest
quality that will qualify individuals for employment and/or
advancement in jobs.
Providing high quality training and retraining of
employed workers.
Providing high quality training that is economical and
accessible to all residents of Northwest Tennessee, thereby contributing to
economic and community development of the communities we serve.
HISTORY
The Tennessee Technology Centers were originally
established as a state-wide system by the enactment of the Tennessee
Legislature during the 1963 General Assembly as State Area
Vocational-Technical Schools. This system operated under the
supervision of the Tennessee State Board of Education until June 30,
1983. The State Area Vocational-Technical Schools came under the
jurisdiction of the Tennessee State Board of Regents July 1, 1983.
Further legislation changed the State Area Vocational-Technical
Schools to Tennessee Technology Centers effective July 1, 1994. The
Tennessee Technology Center at McKenzie had its beginning in 1964
and opened its first classes in July, 1965. The building was
dedicated in October of that year.
Tennessee Technology Center at McKenzie is one of 46
institutions in the Tennessee Board of Regents system, the seventh
largest system of higher education in the nation. The Tennessee
Board of Regents is the governing board for this system which is
comprised of six universities, fourteen community colleges, and
twenty-six area technology centers. The Tennessee
Board of Regents system enrolls more than 80 percent of all
Tennessee students attending public institutions of higher
education.
ACCREDITATION
The Tennessee Technology Center is fully accredited by
the Commission on Occupational Education Institutions. Membership
with this agency assures that the school is maintaining up-to-date,
quality programs. All comments may be addressed to the Commission

All programs at The Tennessee Technology Center
are approved for training of veterans by the State Office of
Veterans Education and Vocational Rehabilitation.
